CASTAIC – A man in his mid-30s was fatally struck by a vehicle on the northbound Golden State (5) Freeway in Castaic, authorities said Wednesday.
Officers responded to a hit-and-run call around 8:10 p.m. Tuesday and found a pedestrian lying on the freeway near the Parker Road exit, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene by Los Angeles County Fire Department paramedics.
Authorities said the pedestrian appeared to be crossing lanes on foot at the time of the crash. The victim was only identified as a Hispanic man in his mid-30s.
The vehicle involved in the crash was described as a Toyota Corolla between 2014 and 2019 of unknown color, which fled the scene as it continued northbound on the freeway.
