HOLLYWOOD – At least one person was killed and another was injured in a collision Saturday on the Hollywood (101) Freeway near Universal Studios Hollywood.
California Highway Patrol officers were called at 2:37 a.m. regarding a body down in the northbound freeway lanes at Universal Studios Boulevard. When they arrived, they found one victim lying on the freeway, said CHP Officer Megan Curtis.
Videographers on the scene report that the man was involved in a solo vehicle crash and was struck by the driver after stepping out of his vehicle on the freeway.
The man was pronounced deceased at the scene by Los Angeles Fire Department personnel. The second person was taken to a hospital in an unknown condition.
All lanes of the northbound freeway closed at 3:29 a.m. were opened at 5:42 a.m.
