ENCINO – A 54-year-old woman who police say was fatally shot by her husband in Encino was identified Friday.
The victim was identified as Linda Farzan-Kashani by the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner, which has ruled her death a homicide.
Officers responded to the 5100 block of Hesperia Avenue, two blocks south of Ventura Boulevard, to reports of shots fired around 7:22 p.m. Wednesday, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
The victim’s husband allegedly shot the victim several times and attempted to run away, but was caught and arrested by officers, NBC4 reported. Neighbors reported hearing at least five gunshots before police were contacted, according to NBC4.
Fox 11 reported the couple’s son was present when the victim was shot.
According to police, the couple did not live in the neighborhood.
“It appears to be an isolated incident of domestic violence,” LAPD Lt. Guy Golan told reporters.
ABC 7 reported Farzan-Kashani was found with a gunshot wound to the head in the middle of the street.
Police said Farzan-Kashani was pronounced dead at the scene, and the motive leading to the fatal shooting remains under investigation.
