LOS ANGELES – A pedestrian killed in a crash on the Harbor (110) Freeway in downtown Los Angeles was publicly identified Sunday.
Larry Lopez was 25 years old and died from multiple blunt force traumatic injuries, the Medical Examiner’s Office reported.
Firefighters and paramedics were dispatched at 6:34 a.m. Saturday to the southbound freeway north of First Street, where Lopez was pronounced dead at the scene, the Los Angeles Fire Department and California Highway Patrol reported.
CHP officers responding to the scene found the pedestrian had been struck by a black Honda Civic, whose driver remained at the scene, and possibly “multiple other vehicles,” according to a CHP news release.
The motorist, a 47-year-old man, was taken to a hospital in fair condition. A 23-year-old man, possibly a passenger in the vehicle, declined transport to a hospital, the LAFD’s Margaret Stewart said.
A Sigalert was issued at 6:50 a.m. closing the southbound freeway, according to the CHP. It was lifted at 9:13 a.m.
