SAN MARINO – A woman’s body was found after fire crews doused a fire at a San Marino home and authorities Tuesday were investigating the circumstances surrounding her death.
The San Marino Fire Department responded to calls of a house fire at 9:45 a.m. Monday to a residence in the 2600 block of Lorain Road, where they found the woman, who NBC 4 reported was in her 50s.
Deputies from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department were contacted and interviewed the victim’s husband when he arrived at the home with his twin 16-year-old sons.
“He’d taken his sons to baseball practice this morning, and when he returned to the location, from dropping them off at practice, he noticed the residence was on fire,” LASD Lt. Steven de Jong told NBC 4.
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the sheriff’s department.
De Jong told reporters at the scene that four people were believed to live in the home: a 51-year-old man, a 56-year-old woman, and two 16-year-olds.
The woman who died was not immediately identified. Her cause of death was not immediately known.
