ORANGE – A 51-year-old man fell ill while in custody in the Theo Lacy Facility in Orange and died in a hospital Friday.
The man, whose name was not immediately released as investigators work to notify all of his relatives, was pronounced dead about 10 a.m. Friday, sheriff’s officials said.
The man was booked by Anaheim police Jan. 6 on suspicion of criminal threats, brandishing a weapon and resisting arrest, officials said. The inmate was taken to a hospital to be treated and was pronounced dead there.
It does not appear to be a suspicious death. The cause will be determined by an autopsy to be performed by an outside agency.
