LOS ANGELES – Police Thursday are investigating a shooting in downtown Los Angeles that left a man in the hospital.
Officers from the Los Angeles Police Department’s Central Division responded at 12:18 a.m. to an assault with a deadly weapon call at 732 S Spring St. between Broadway and Main Street.
The address coincides with Sentral DTLA, which offers both housing to students attending UCLA and USC but also furnished short-term rentals for rent to the public.
When they arrived, officers found the victim on the sixth floor of the building suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest, according to an LAPD spokesman.
The victim was taken to a hospital in stable condition. There was no suspect information despite other adults being present at the time of the shooting.
Although it was initially reported the man was shot at a 6th floor unit in the building, was being sublet as an Airbnb, representatives from the hosting company refuted that claim.
“I am reaching out to confirm that Airbnb is not associated with this incident, the unit is not an Airbnb,” said Ruthie Kongo, from the corporate communications department.
She declined to respond to questions if any of the units in the building are listed on the Airbnb platform.
