LOS ANGELES – A domestic violence suspect was fatally shot by deputies early Tuesday morning in South Los Angeles.
According to a release issued by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, at approximately 0129 hours, Century Station deputies responded to the 1500 block of East 77th Place in the unincorporated area of Los Angeles regarding a domestic violence related call for service.
The female caller stated her ex-boyfriend, suspect, was at her home, had threatened her and was armed with a gun.
Responding deputies located and contacted the suspect on the 7600 Block of Compton Avenue. The suspect attempted to flee, produced a handgun and fired at deputies at which point a deputy involved shooting occurred.
The suspect was struck by gunfire. No deputies were injured.
Deputies rendered medical aid to the suspect. Los Angeles County Fire Department personnel responded to the scene, rendered medical aid and pronounced the suspect dead at the scene.
A firearm was found at the scene.
The investigation remains ongoing. There is no additional information at this time.
