LOS ANGELES – A 60-year-old man was fatally shot in downtown Los Angeles Sunday.
Police responded to calls regarding an assault with a weapon in the 500 block of East Fifth Street near the Skidrow area around 4 p.m. Sunday, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
Officers found the man down with gunshot wounds and transported him to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased, according to the LAPD. The man’s name was not immediately released.
A description of the suspect and a motive for the shooting were unavailable, the department reported.
Around 5:40 p.m., police had sealed off the roadway between San Pedro and Crocker streets for an unspecified period of time.
The case was transferred to the LAPD’s Homicide Department for further investigation.
