BELL – A suspect wounded in a shooting involving Bell police was jailed Monday pending word on possible criminal charges.
The shooting occurred at about 10:20 p.m. Sunday in the 6700 block of Chanslor Avenue, near the intersection of East Gage Avenue, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, which is investigating the shooting.
The suspect, identified only as a man, was taken to a hospital, where he was treated and later released to the Bell Police Department, sheriff’s officials said. He was booked on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon on a police officer.
No officers were injured, according to the sheriff’s department.
“The suspect’s firearms were recovered at the scene of the incident,” according to the agency.
The circumstances of the shooting remained unclear.
