It’s time to head to the bayou y’all!
Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is officially open as “Holidays at the Disneyland Resort” season begins Nov. 15.
Disneyland kicked off the opening of the highly anticipated Tiana’s Bayou Adventure attraction with a two-day media preview that featured a first look at the new water ride, which features Tiana, who was inspired by the late James Beard award-winning New Orleans chef Leah Chase.
“The kitchen you see in the queue is fashioned after my mother’s down to the rooster she had,” said Stella Chase, who was on hand for the attraction’s opening. “I urge everyone to come to enjoy Tiana’s Bayou Adventure!”
In the queue for the ride, guests learn that Princess Tiana has been giving back to her community through a new employee-owned coop called Tiana’s Foods. She’s preparing a big Mardi Gras party for everyone but is missing a key ingredient. Guests join her and Louis the Alligator in a search through the bayou for a band.
Anika Noni Rose, who voiced Tiana in the 2009 animated musical romantic fantasy comedy film, “The Princess and the Frog” — on which the ride is based — again supplies her voice for the character on the ride, as does Jenifer Lewis, who voiced Mama Odie. Also reprising their roles for the ride are Bruno Campos as Prince Naveen and Michael Leon Wooley as Louis.
New Orleans music legends PJ Morton and Terence Blanchard worked on the ride’s music. Louisiana artists like Sharika Mahdi and Malaika Favorite inspired its feel.
Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is billed by Disney as “a thrilling water ride through the bayou with Princess Tiana, Mama Odie and gator pal Louis” and “a musical journey full of twists, turns and festive fun that crescendos with a 50-foot drop as well as a swingin’ soiree.”
And of course, this new attraction wouldn’t be complete without new merch and food offerings.
