LOS ANGELES – A pedestrian attempting to cross the Golden State (5) Freeway was struck and killed by a vehicle in the Arleta area of the San Fernando Valley Saturday.
The collision was reported at 1:44 a.m. Saturday. California Highway Patrol officers responded to the southbound freeway and the Osborne Street off- ramp, where they found the man lying near the slow lane of the freeway, according to CHP Officer Sergio Garcia.
The victim, whose name and age were not released, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The CHP briefly closed two lanes of the freeway while they investigated the cause of the collision.
