LOS ANGELES – Two vehicles involved in a fatal hit-and-run that killed 16-year-old Jonathan Flores, were seized and a suspect was identified, authorities announced Sunday.
In an alleged road rage incident on Friday, the teen was struck at 3939 South Figueroa St. near BMO Stadium and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard at 4:36 p.m., according to California Highway Patrol Officer Sergio Garcia.
Some cyclists riding south of Figueroa were involved in a verbal altercation with the driver of a blue BMW, who followed the crew into a parking lot. Turning into the lot, the victim was struck by a separate black Honda Sedan, according to the CHP.
Police had announced on Friday that several witnesses to the collision would be interviewed to identify the suspect.
On Saturday, CHP detectives served a search warrant to a residence in Los Angeles and a 28-year-old Hispanic man was identified as the driver of the Honda. The two cars were also seized as evidence, according to the CHP.
Further description of the suspect was unavailable at the time and the investigation was ongoing.
