EAST LOS ANGELES – Two people were wounded during a car-to-car shooting on the Long Beach (710) Freeway Wednesday in East Los Angeles that authorities say could be a case of road rage.
California Highway Patrol officers were called at around 12:12 a.m. to the southbound 710 and the junction with the southbound Santa Ana (5) Freeway where someone from another vehicle shot at a Toyota Prius, wounding the occupants of the Prius, according to CHP Officer Sean Lough.
NBC 4 showed footage of the Prius with at least three bullet holes.
The driver of the Prius and their passenger were able to drive to a hospital and were treated for non-life-threatening injuries, KTLA 5 reported.
The CHP issued a SigAlert that closed all lanes of the southbound 710 at Third Street for over four hours while they investigated the shooting.
There was no immediate description of the car the shooter was traveling in or of the shooter.
