INGLEWOOD – Text messages between Inglewood Mayor James T. Butts Jr. and his former aide Melanie McDade details the harassment and stalking she faced after she ended their consensual relationship in early 2018.
The text message exchanges are part of exhibits in the ongoing lawsuit between McDade and the City where she alleges she was wrongfully terminated after ending her relationship with Butts.
She alleged he stalked her and put a tracking device on her vehicle which appears to be corroborated in the text messages with him detailing multiple cities she visited and berating her for a purported sexual relationship she began with another man.
Residents have begun contacting their council representatives questioning what they knew and why they continue to vote in favor of payment of his legal bills.
The City has also hired one of the attorneys representing the City in the ongoing lawsuit as the Interim City Attorney.
McDade was initially seeking damages in the amount of $12 million but has revised that figure to $65 million.

You would think that someone with a law enforcement background would be more intelligent than that. Taxpayers should not be paying for this legal counsel, settlements and/or judgement, etc.
