LONG BEACH – A woman was killed when a motorcycle on which she was a passenger collided with a car in Long Beach, authorities said Wednesday.
The crash occurred at about 10:30 p.m. Tuesday on East Ocean Boulevard and Kennebec Avenue, according to the Long Beach Police Department.
“Officers located two adults in the roadway and immediately rendered aid,” an LBPD statement said. “Long Beach Fire Department personnel arrived and transported one male motorcyclist and one female motorcycle passenger to a local hospital, where the female passenger succumbed to her injuries.”
Information was not immediately available on the identity of the fatally injured woman.
“The preliminary investigation revealed that a 2018 Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle was traveling eastbound on Ocean Boulevard when it drifted into the westbound lanes of Ocean Boulevard and struck a 2001 Mitsubishi Eclipse traveling westbound,” the LBPD statement said.
The motorcycle driver and passenger were thrown from the motorcycle and came to rest in the westbound lanes of Ocean Boulevard, police said. The department added that speed is believed to be a factor in the collision.
Anyone with information about the crash was asked to contact LBPD Collision Investigation Detail Detective Kevin Johansen at 562-570-7355.
