The Math Ain’t Mathin’
Not like the City makes it easy, but did I miss something? When were WE informed that these numbers were changing?
I saw 40? then 44 and NOW 80 percent of potential “new tax” revenues going to the ITC People Mover and 20 percent is going to Affordable Housing. Did they have to “find” more money to get the matching grant? So it’s now 100 percent of “new tax revenue”. (Maybe after the referenced LA County Meeting and no apparent revelation to Inglewood Residents).
The Administration keeps telling us it’s not costing the Residents…
Despite being told differently, looks like current Residents are still footing the bill directly and indirectly for things they can’t/won’t use and/or are largely if not completely NOT benefitting them, but Others. Then they cut Residents out of tax and other revenues.
At a minimum, who is paying for the INCREASED USE and upkeep of roads, sidewalks, debris pick up, and more. We’re assessed AT LEAST ANNUALLY for sidewalks, streets, curbs, tree trimming, lighting, and taxed in other ways. How much “deferred maintenance” on existing items is STILL not done? Will ALL of the extra law enforcement and parking cost burdens be completely reimbursed to the City? By Whom? How?
And we haven’t even gotten to the HUGE upcoming events.
Still holding out hope, despite.
The City had to return Millions of dollars to the Feds at least 3? different times for not building affordable housing. And how did they fill those budget gaps before?…. Is this how they’re filling the gap now? Diverting ITC potential “new tax revenue” is still not equitable to Current and/or Future Residents. Follow the money and Developer/other tax breaks.
The City continues to overlook many simple Climate Resiliency items they should already be implementing. No surprise, as this Administration continues to waste our money in a variety of ways, including, but not limited to the continued contract with and shoddy work by Republic waste collector. And one Earth Day Celebration the City was called out for someone putting a Porta Potty directly over a storm drain vent (straight to the ocean)….
Let’s have some REAL transparency, Citizen Engagement, Communication Coordination and EQUITY.
Disgusted Inglewood homeowner!
