INGLEWOOD – An anticipated ruling in the ongoing legal battle between Inglewood Mayor James T. Butts Jr. and his former aide/girlfriend Melanie McDade continues to be dragged out at the expense of Inglewood taxpayers.
McDade and the City are facing sanctions regarding their inability to deliver evidence during the discovery process.
The City is charging that McDade is withholding information and McDade is arguing the City is refusing to turn over emails in connection with the suit.
This has resulted in sanctions of less than $10,000 being assessed to Ms. McDade and $217,404 being assessed to the City.
Superior Court Judge Lia Martin issued her latest ruling on the City’s request to terminate sanctions on Oct. 1 when all parties appeared in a Los Angeles Superior Court courtroom.
Martin postponed the matter until after the Nov. 5th election and days before Inglewood City Hall closes for its annual two-week holiday closure.
All parties are due back in court on Dec. 10.
