COMPTON – A man injured during a drive-by shooting in Compton died later at a hospital, the Sheriff’s Information Bureau said Sunday.
The shooting was reported at 9:16 p.m. Saturday on the 800 block of South Chester Avenue.
Responding deputies were directed to a local hospital where the man had been transported by a relative and where he was later pronounced dead.
The man was leaving a residence with his mother when a suspect in a white sedan — traveling south on the 800 block of South Chester Avenue — opened fire, striking the man, investigators said.
The sedan then sped off.
