LOS ANGELES – Authorities sought the public’s help Tuesday to find the hit-and-run motorist responsible for fatally injuring a pedestrian in the south Los Angeles area.
Paramedics sent to Imperial Highway west of Parmelee Avenue at about 8:50 p.m. Monday pronounced 62-year-old Denise Barkus of Los Angeles dead at the scene, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
“The victim was walking southbound across Imperial Highway … outside of a crosswalk, when she was struck by a two-toned silver or white sedan traveling eastbound on Imperial Highway,” an LAPD statement said.
“The driver of the sedan failed to stop and render aid as required by law and continued driving eastbound on Imperial Highway,” the statement continued.
A reward of up to $50,000 has been offered by the city of Los Angeles for information that helps solve a fatal hit-and-run.
