LOS ANGELES – A man was killed Thursday after he struck a fire hydrant while driving in Ladera Heights.
The collision was reported at 3:13 a.m. and California Highway Patrol officers responded to West Slauson and Corning avenues, where they found the victim unresponsive inside a gold Chevy Malibu after slamming into the hydrant, according to CHP Officer Sean Lough.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene by Los Angeles County Fire Department personnel.
The CHP is investigating the cause of the collision.
