There are many stories of musical treasures that have been buried and forgotten only to be re-discovered decades later to claim the recognition that they deserve. From Kate Bush’s “Running Up the Hill” to Tiffany’s cover of “I Think We’re Alone Now,” film and television synchronization has become one of the main reasons for such musical resurrections.
For Count on Me Music CEO James King III, if synch is the spotlight that will bring his father’s music with Halo the Band to light, he is ready to flip that switch.
“I’m reissuing the music because it’s what the world needs to hear right now,” said King. “I want to engage in synchronization opportunities of all kinds, including sampling and covers for new artists to use.”
“Count On Me Music Publishing is open to global business partnerships, hoping to spread the light of this timeless creation across the globe and influence all music genres.”
Halo The Band was formed in the 80s by James King Jr., Greg Coleman, and Karvin Johnson. Their single “Let Me Do It” was a dancefloor favorite during that time. Several notable DJs such as Soul Sam, Butch, and Keb Darge owned the rare record and spun it whenever they had the chance, making it a certified cult classic.
