LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles City Council Wednesday approved $50,000 in funding to support an RV parking program for unhoused residents in the West San Fernando Valley.
Council members unanimously backed the funding request made by Councilman Bob Blumenfield, who represents the Third District, encompassing areas such as Woodland Hills, Tarzana, Reseda, Winnetka and Canoga Park.
In 2016, as part of its strategy to address homelessness, the city developed a Safe Parking Pilot Program, which later became a citywide approach for interim housing. Safe Parking LA oversees the program in the Third District, connecting unhoused residents with homeless services.
The allocation of funding is intended to support Safe Parking LA with case management, outreach services and general operating and staffing expenses.
Money will also be used to provide financial assistance for driver’s license fees, vehicle registration/renewal, smog checks, auto-related repairs and other expenses. Participants in the program can also benefit from financial assistance related to housing expenses, such as rent, security deposits and application fees.
The city’s Housing Department will need to review and amend contracts with the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority and Safe Parking LA to effectuate these enhanced services through June 30, 2025, according to the motion.

This “article” is pathetic. It neglects to answer the first question you’d have: WHAT is this “safe parking” program? And then WHERE is the parking? WHO oversees it, and what have the results been?
