LOS ANGELES – A man found dead after he struck a fire hydrant while driving in Ladera Heights was publicly identified Saturday but the cause of his death remained undetermined.
Micheal Worrell was 64 years old, according to the Los Angeles County Office of Medical Examiner. The cause of his death was deferred pending further investigation.
The crash was reported at 3:13 a.m. Thursday. California Highway Patrol officers responded to West Slauson and Corning avenues, where they found the victim unresponsive inside a gold Chevy Malibu that slammed into the hydrant, CHP Officer Sean Lough told City News Service.
Worrell was pronounced dead at the scene by Los Angeles County Fire Department paramedics.
The CHP was investigating the crash.
