LOS ANGELES – An arson suspect is in custody after a short pursuit with authorities early Friday morning in downtown Los Angeles.
Los Angeles Fire Department personnel responded to reports of a rubbish fire on the southbound 101 Freeway, just north of the Broadway exit around 2:40 a.m.
When crews arrived at the scene, they located a subject actively starting fires who proceeded to threaten the crew and walked away.
LAFD requested backup from Los Angeles Police Department and California Highway Patrol who pursued the suspect down the southbound 101 Freeway.
Without further incident, the suspect was eventually taken into custody on the 101, just south of the Alameda Street exit.
