The Grace Yoo for Los Angeles City Council campaign is gaining momentum with a recent poll conducted by Goodwin Simon Strategic Research. The poll reveals that attorney Grace Yoo leads and appointed incumbent Heather Hutt thanks to a strong demand for change. This offers Yoo a significant opportunity to unseat Hutt in the upcoming election.
“Our campaign is fueled by the voices of District 10 residents who are tired of the status quo,” said Yoo. “This poll reaffirms what we’ve been hearing from voters: they want honest, effective leadership that will prioritize the needs of our community. I am ready to bring that change to City Hall.”
The polling data collected July 22 – July 29, 2024, among likely voters in the district, shows that Yoo and Hutt are virtually tied as the race begins. After respondents hear positive and negative statements about both candidates, Yoo pulls significantly ahead with 46% support to Hutt’s 34% support with 20% remain undecided.
With the deluge of scandals and the continuing perception of a crisis of homelessness, crime, and the rising cost of living, there is an acute call for change. Polling shows that nearly half (48%) of likely voters say the city of Los Angeles is “seriously off on the wrong track”. Of those polled, 44% want someone new to represent them. Only 25% want to re-elect the appointed incumbent.
“Voters are looking for a leader who will fight for them, not for the special interests,” Yoo continued. “I am committed to being that leader, and this poll shows that the people of District 10 are ready for a fresh start.”
This early indication of voter sentiment reflects widespread dissatisfaction with the current state of affairs at City Hall. Voters are expressing a clear desire for a new direction, with a focus on addressing the corruption and incompetence that have plagued city government in recent years.
Yoo, a longtime community advocate and attorney, has built her campaign around the principles of transparency, accountability, and service to the people. Her platform includes tackling housing affordability, improving public safety, and ensuring equitable access to resources and services across the district.
As the campaign progresses, Yoo’s team plans to continue engaging with voters, listening to their concerns, and building a broad coalition of support. The poll’s findings underscore the opportunity for Yoo to connect with voters who are eager for a change in leadership and ready to hold City Hall accountable.
