LOS ANGELES – A man was shot to death in South Los Angeles Sunday and police were trying to piece together what led to the fatal attack, with one report stating it happened during a street takeover.
The shooting was reported around 3:20 a.m. Sunday near the intersection of 89th Street and Broadway, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. Citing multiple witnesses, ABC7 reported that the suspect was shot in the face amid a street takeover but police did not confirm that.
The victim, who was said to be in his 40s, was pronounced dead at the scene. CBS2 reported that he was shot while inside a vehicle, but police did not confirm that either.
No suspect description was immediately available.
The area around 89th Street and Broadway was shut down during the investigation, but officers cleared the scene as of 9 a.m. Sunday.
