LOS ANGELES – A man has died after being shot multiple times in the head while sitting in his vehicle on Aug. 2.
Officers from the Los Angeles Police Department’s Southwest Division responded to a shots fired call at 12:15 a.m. at 1046 W. Martin Luther King Blvd., west of Vermont Boulevard, where they found the victim seated in a car with multiple gunshot wounds to the head, according to an LAPD spokesman.
The victim’s car had struck two parked vehicles when officers found him, police said.
The family has identified the victim as Steven Rayo, 50.
“Steve is a hardworking man, a company man. He was getting ready to go on a road trip to San Francisco for his job but was shot three times in the head. He was a good man,” said a family member who reached out to 2UrbanGirls before his passing.
According to the family, Rayo was pronounced brain dead upon arriving at the hospital and was removed from life support early this morning.
