LANCASTER – A woman who was crossing an intersection was struck and killed by a vehicle in Lancaster, authorities said Saturday.
Traffic investigators from the Lancaster Sheriff’s Station were called to the intersection of Elm Avenue and Avenue J around 8:09 p.m. Friday. They learned a man driving a Ford Flex SUV east on Avenue J hit the pedestrian, who was walking north to south on Avenue J, said Det. Jorge Diaz.
Los Angeles County Fire Department personnel took the woman to Antelope Valley Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
The cause of the crash is under investigation and it is unknown whether speed was a factor in this crash, Diaz said. Anyone with information is asked to contact traffic investigators at the Lancaster Sheriff’s Station at 661-948-8466.
