2UrbanGirls,
It’s a SAD day in Compton.
Are you keeping up with the foolishness between the City Manager (Willie Hopkins) and City Attorney (Eric Perrodin)? They are fighting over Perrodin’s interpretation of the charter as it relates to the approval of agenda items and a major reduction of staffing in the city attorney’s office. We are now questioning other legal interpretations made by Perrodin as it relates to the city charter.
The city has NO official court document affirming the removal of former Councilman Isaac Galvan from his second council district seat after a civil case found evidence of voter fraud. The court case in the matter remains unresolved. It is alleged that the SOLE decision to remove Galvan and appoint Andre Spicer came from the former City Clerk Alita Godwin. Perrodin maintains he played no role in the matter, however, is it a coincidence that Spicer’s attorney of record was the same one that represented Perrodin in a similar matter against former Mayor Omar Bradley?
Perrodin provided a convoluted interpretation of the City Charter when it came to the 2-1-1 appointment of Deidre Duhart, despite the objections of residents, which was upheld by CA Attorney General Rob Bonta.
If you have about 30 minutes to spare, Cynthia Macon has written some rather lengthy musings on the matter.
It should strike everyone as odd that the court’s have ruled AND provided written documentation to the City on Perrodin’s recent court filings, which didn’t go in his favor, but NOTHING from the court on the removal of Isaac Galvan.
Corruption STILL rules Compton!

Every article isn’t about the City Attorney, but it always ends up being about him. This pathetic “blame the city attorney” game is beyond old. No one wants to see his name everywhere! It’s easy to point fingers at him because he’s annoyingly loud, but that’s just a distraction tactic to keep people from seeing the real issues in this city.
Should Spicer and Duhart even be in their seats? Absolutely not! Spicer is a straight-up criminal who thinks he’s some kind of gangster—he’s just a Blood wannabe thug. A real gangster wouldn’t run their mouth the way he does. And then there are those bitter women at the meetings, constantly screaming, “Read the charter, people!” when they haven’t read it themselves.
Duhart was on the personnel board, resigned, and then got handed a council seat. The charter makes it clear, that’s a big NO NO, but these women are too busy obsessing over the city attorney to catch that violation. Wake up and focus on the real issues—the corrupt council and incompetent management. Don’t let the City Manager manipulate you into ignoring his own BS.
Maybe Cynthia Macon should do some REAL research on the City Manager and publish REAL stories instead of fawning over him like a desperate groupie!
Be this all as it may (and it is unortunate, to say the least), it is criminal (pun intended), and tragic, that Eric Perrodin has *anything* at all to do with governing others, representing *anything* at all in courts of law, etc. He is corrupt and should have been excised from the workings of all governments, all cities, long ago.
The question of the legality of Deidre Duhart and Andre Spicer and the nature of their controversial appointments does need scrutiny again, no matter Bonta’s aide mistaken interpretation. Five appointees at once out of eight officials screams something is wrong. Buy reform requires getting things set right no matter how long the wrongs. And luckily, detailed “musings” with receipts captured all the details in real time. We used to read books and essays but now the excerpt is queen. The official dumbing down of America. But luckily, some do still read and, as such, the reform movement is on the march in Compton—finally.
