LOS ANGELES – Three men were in the hospital Wednesday — one in critical condition — after they were shot by a 40-year-old man in what authorities said Wednesday was gang-related near the Hyde Park neighborhood.
Los Angeles Police Department officers were called at 10:10 p.m. Tuesday to the 6300 block of Brynhurst Ave. regarding a shots fired call.
When they arrived, witnesses told officers a 21- 21-year-old man, a 17-year-old, and a 36-year-old man were arguing with the suspect when the suspect left and returned with a gun and fired several times at the victims, striking all three of them, according to an LAPD spokeswoman.
The shooter was arrested at the scene.
The 36-year-old took himself to a hospital and was listed in critical condition and the other two victims were taken to a hospital in stable condition by Los Angeles Fire Department personnel, police said.
Moments earlier, LAPD responded to reports of shots fired at a convenience store located at the intersection of Hyde Park and West Blvd., blocks from the Brynhurst shooting, where a man was also detained.
It is unknown if the shootings are connected.
