SOUTH SAN GABRIEL – A man and a woman initially believed to have been shot Wednesday in the unincorporated South San Gabriel area were discovered unresponsive and later pronounced dead.
Deputies were dispatched to the 7600 block of Steddom Drive, near Del Mar Avenue and the Monterey Park city limits, around 12:20 p.m. Wednesday regarding an unconscious man not breathing, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
Upon their arrival, deputies discovered a woman at the location who was also unresponsive.
Los Angeles County Fire Department paramedics arrived at the location, where they pronounced the victims dead at the scene.
Homicide detectives were conducting an ongoing investigation into the suspicious deaths.
Sheriff’s officials said the cause of both victims’ deaths will be determined by the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner.
The names of the victims were being withheld by the medical examiner pending notification of relatives.
