LOS ANGELES – A man was shot and killed Friday evening on or near a Metro Expo Line train in Baldwin Hills, where at least three suspects fled the scene on skateboards.
Officers responded to the La Cienega/Jefferson station at the intersection of Jefferson and La Cienega boulevards around 7:20 p.m. where the man was discovered unresponsive, according to Los Angeles Police Department Officer Drake Madison.
An argument on the street level of the Expo/La Cienega Station escalated and continued onto the train, where a suspect pulled out a gun and shot the man, who died at the scene, Los Angeles Police Department Officer Drake Madison told City News Service.
The suspects, who Madison said were boys and men 15 to 20 years old, fled before police arrived.
Officers requested the assistance of the Los Angeles Fire Department for the man who was not breathing after being shot in the head, Madison said.
LAFD spokesman Brian Humphrey confirmed that paramedics arrived at the scene, but did not take any victims to a hospital.
It was unclear what led up to the shooting, and detectives were conducting an investigation Friday evening.
