LOS ANGELES – A man in his 40s was fatally shot Monday in the Crenshaw district, prompting a homicide investigation.
Officers responded to the intersection of 47th Street and Crenshaw Boulevard around 1 p.m. Monday, initially on a report of an assault with a deadly weapon, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
Upon further investigation, the responding officers discovered a man suffering from apparent gunshot injuries.
Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Nicholas Prange said firefighters arrived at the location a short time later, where they pronounced the victim dead at the scene.
It was unclear what motivated the shooting, and there was no description of a suspect.
