INGLEWOOD – An officer-involved shooting was not reported to the public that occurred at a local park on May 27.
A resident that lives close to the area alerted 2UrbanGirls believing someone was shot in Darby Park in the 3400 block of Arbor Vitae off Crenshaw Blvd.
“There is a heavy police presence at the entrance to the park, can you please look into it,” asked the resident.
2UrbanGirls was then contacted by a city of Inglewood employee who drove by the scene and reported the same scenario.
According to videographers on the scene, “An Inglewood Police Department officer became involved in an early morning shooting. There were very little details other than a shooting had occurred and no officers were injured. Details regarding the number of occupants or if they were injured in the shooting were not available. At the time the video was taken an Inglewood Police Public Information Officer was unavailable for official comment.”
The County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed that no one was killed at the location.
While the police were investigating the shooting, city officials were gathering on the South Lawn of City Hall to commemorate war veterans.
The City has $100,000 worth of reasons to keep silent about what took place in Darby Park on Memorial Day as that’s the amount they have allocated to spend on a free music festival later this month.
Darby Park is known as one of the most deadly parks in City limits.
The City has continuously refused to provide comment to 2UrbanGirls on crime in Inglewood with Mayor James Butts hand-selecting which media outlets receive press releases crafted from his office.

While it probably was not intended….2ug may have accidently revealed to all exactly why the city IS LOSING or has lost a sense of confidence in police interactions.
When it fails to respond to inquires….those of us close in and impacted can recognize the flaws in the “crafted” messages.
Sadly those local recognize that truth rarely- if ever – is what flows out in the chosen media messages.
From begining to end of the District 1 town hall, a lie-o-meter would have been blasting “Falsehood!
Falsehhod!!” during the presentations of our elected and the State/County school administrator.
While once most thought police were hired to “protect and serve” community under the Butts Administration it appears the collective leadership of police and city councilmembers believe they are selected to protect and serve only the Mayor’s interest!
While that may seem a bit extreme – experience has shown Non- transparancy= non- truthfulness.
What did mama ALLWAYS say…behave in a way that if your actions were telecast your grandma and preacher would be proud to say I helped give that child a good value system and she/he listened in spite of bad influences around them.
Next election perhaps we should vote for Transparent Truthtellers rather than false media managers.
