LANCASTER – Two men were shot and killed in Lancaster Wednesday making it the second day of deadly shootings in the area.
Investigators responded to the 800 block of East Avenue J-12 around 5:55 p.m. Wednesday regarding a shooting, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
Lancaster Mayor R. Rex Parris called on county officials to do more to combat crime in his city, even if it meant bringing in the National Guard. “Give me the power to protect the people who live here,” he told ABC 7.
Sheriff’s officials said both victims were taken to a hospital, where they later died.
The two deaths are part of a rash of fatal shootings that have rocked Lancaster over a 24-hour period, including two on Tuesday.
The names of the two men were being withheld by the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner pending notification of relatives.
