LONG BEACH – A suspect has been arrested for allegedly stabbing a man who intervened in a dispute he was having with a woman in Long Beach this morning, authorities said.
The victim suffered a non-life-threatening stab wound to the upper body, while the suspect also had non-life-threatening injuries to the upper body, the Long Beach Police Department reported.
Officers were dispatched at about 5:40 a.m. to the area of 14th Street and Fashion Avenue, where they contacted both the suspect and victim.
“The preliminary investigation indicates that the male adult suspect was in a verbal dispute with a female adult when the victim attempted to intervene. A physical altercation ensued between the suspect and victim, which escalated when the suspect stabbed the victim,” according to a police statement.
The suspect was taken into custody and both he and the victim were sent to a hospital for their injuries.
