INGLEWOOD – If you thought postal service couldn’t get any worse, think again.
Despite the best efforts of federal officials to remove the Postmaster General, installed by former President Donald Trump, issues with mail delivery, staffing and service continue to permeate across the country.
A local postal employee shared an ominous warning about what lies ahead for residents throughout Los Angeles County after employees voted out their union president, Vicki Toliver, for failure to represent them property.
“Hi! Just wanted to share this with you. The ex-president of the Greater Los Angeles Area Local 64 American Postal Workers Union (APWU) [Vicki Tolliver] was recently voted out. On her way out the door she decided to “warn” the Los Angeles area clerks about something she should have fought against and given them a heads up on while in office. The Inglewood stations and other area offices will be consolidated into one “sorting and delivery center”. This impacts the community with further commutes for customers who need to pick up/send mail, much longer wait times in the lobby due to 3-4 offices in one, overworked and stressed clerks at the window and delayed mail delivery due to longer routes and carriers having to travel further to reach and start their routes.”
2UrbanGirls has reached out to the Congressional members representing the greater Los Angeles and Inglewood area: Reps. Jimmy Gomez, Sydney Kamlager-Dove and Maxine Waters, who have not responded to requests for comment.
