LOS ANGELES – To continue expanding support for the 30% of California’s youth experiencing severe mental health issues, Fritz Coleman, standup comedian and former Los Angeles weathercaster, joined Gateways Hospital and Mental Health Center, to raise funds at their 3rd Annual Golf Classic.
In California, 64.5% of youth experiencing major depressive episodes did not receive the appropriate mental health services, according to a report from Mental Health America. Gateways is dedicating resources to expand adolescent mental health care services with the support of the Behavioral Health Continuum Infrastructure Program.
Gateways is raising funds to expand critical infrastructure for their adolescent mental health care services, through a 13,000 square foot expansion project that will add 40 new adolescent beds and increase the total number of adolescent patients served to 445 per year at Gateways’ main campus.
The funds raised from the event will support the $19.2 million grant that Gateways received from the Behavioral Health Continuum Infrastructure Program. Gateways is a non-profit, safety net hospital, providing essential mental health services to the most vulnerable communities in Southern California.
Gateways is continuing to collect donations which can be made at gatewayshospital.org.
