LOS ANGELES – A 69-year-old pedestrian was fatally struck by a vehicle near the Cesar Chavez Bridge in Lincoln Heights, authorities said Thursday.
The collision was reported at 11:11 p.m. Wednesday near Cesar Chavez Boulevard and Mission Road where Los Angeles Police Department officers learned a vehicle heading west on Cesar Chavez struck a pedestrian who was standing in the roadway, according to an LAPD spokesman.
Los Angeles Fire Department personnel pronounced the man dead at the scene. His identity is being withheld pending notification of the next of kin.
The driver, a 24-year-old man, remained at the scene and cooperated with police.
