HOLLYWOOD – A drug lab was discovered in Hollywood after neighbors reported strong chemical smells on May 9.
Los Angeles Police Department officers with the Hollywood Narcotics Division, along with multiple joint task force officers were at the scene in the 1700 block of North Fuller Ave. working to clear a small drug lab.
The lab was discovered when Los Angeles Fire Department responded to reports of strong chemical smells at approximately 1:21 PM.
Fire personnel alerted LAPD who responded and confirmed a “DMT” lab at the location. One person was taken into custody by officers at scene.
An LAPD Lieutenant stated that the initial concern was that of the fire hazard, and possible chemical exposure to nearby residents at the building and surrounding area.
“The strong smell of acetone and ammonia is what neighbors reported smelling to authorities”, said the LAPD lieutenant off camera.
Officers worked into the night to clear the apartment and remove the hazardous materials. All of the items were also cataloged and photographed.
