LOS ANGELES – A 33-year-old man who was killed in a shooting in the Hyde Park area that authorities say is gang-related was identified Thursday.
The Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner’s office identified the victim as Demetrius Sauls.
Los Angeles Police Department officers from the department’s 77th Division were called to 63rd Street and Crenshaw Boulevard around 9:30 p.m Tuesday regarding a fight between several people.
During the altercations, the victim entered the apartment of the suspect, a 22-year-old man, who shot the victim, according to an LAPD spokeswoman.
Los Angeles Fire Department personnel pronounced Sauls dead in a parking lot at the scene. The shooter was taken into custody at the scene, police said.
