BURBANK – A 71-year-old man who was fatally struck in a Burbank shopping center parking lot was identified Monday by the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner.
The collision was reported about 1:45 p.m. Sunday at the Empire Center, located just west of the Golden State (5) Freeway north of Victory Boulevard, according to the Burbank Police Department. The man was hit near the Krispy Kreme doughnut shop and the Sephora store.
Paramedics pronounced the man dead at the scene, police said.
He was identified by the county medical examiner on Monday as Roger Williamson of Arleta.
The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with traffic investigators. The cause of the crash was not immediately known, but neither drugs nor alcohol appeared to be factors, police said.
