LOS ANGELES – A 46-year-old man who was killed in a hit-and-run crash while crossing a street in the Florence area of Los Angeles was identified Thursday.
Ronald Huntley was identified as the pedestrian. He died of blunt force injuries, according to the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner’s office
The crash occurred at about 11:05 p.m. Sunday near Avalon Boulevard and 81st Street, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
Detectives discovered during their investigation that a possibly white- colored sedan was traveling southbound on Avalon Boulevard at a high rate of speed.
According to police, the motorist intentionally veered into the northbound lanes to go around other vehicles that were yielding for pedestrians before striking Huntley, who was crossing east on Avalon Boulevard in an unmarked crosswalk. The vehicle then continued traveling southbound on Avalon Boulevard from 83rd Street.
Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics arrived at the scene, where they pronounced Huntley dead.
A reward of up to $50,000 is being offered for information leading to the suspect’s identification, arrest, and conviction.
