INGLEWOOD – Three people were arrested this month in Inglewood for allegedly supplying alcohol to minors, Inglewood police reported Saturday.
Operation “Shoulder Tap” at Alcohol Beverage Control-licensed spots in the city was run on March 9, said Inglewood police Lt. Scott Collins.
The operation conducted under the supervision of a police officer was designed to deter underage drinking, Collins said.
A person working with police would stand outside a liquor or convenience store and ask patrons to buy alcohol on their behalf, explaining that he or she is underage, Collins said.
If the other person agrees to buy the alcohol, an arrest would be made for furnishing alcohol to minors, which carries a maximum $1,000 fine and 24 hours of community service.
The names of the three arrestees were not provided by police.
Funding for the operation was provided by an alcohol-policing partnership grant through the California Department of Alcohol Beverage Control.
