INGLEWOOD – Developers held a groundbreaking ceremony at the site of a former car wash in Inglewood on Jan. 29.
JPI broke ground on Jefferson Inglewood, a market-rate and affordable housing apartment project located at 939 W. Manchester, in a transit oriented development zone near the Metro K-Line and not far from the LAX people mover.

The Jefferson Inglewood project is just one of many exciting developments happening in the City of Inglewood. City Staff, the Architecture and Engineering Team, and Capital Partners have collaborated over the past 1.5 years through entitlements and permitting to bring this premier community to the residents of Inglewood.
The eight-story, transit-oriented property will feature 222 studio, one- and two-bedroom apartments. 11 units will be set aside as affordable.
Units will offer stainless steel appliances and full-size washers and dryers. Community amenities will include a pool, cabana, clubroom, fitness center and rooftop deck.
Jefferson Inglewood is located three metro stops from El Segundo and one stop from Los Angeles’ The Automated People Mover, including an electric train system on a 2.25-mile elevated guideway with six stations.
The proximity of the project will also be ideal for those looking to travel to the Inglewood Sports and Entertainment District where the Kia Forum, SoFi Stadium, Hollywood Park and Intuit Dome are located as the transit line will connect to a proposed transit solution to ease traffic congestion.
A new report from Fitch Ratings suggests the first of the two projects, the LAX Automated People Mover Project, originally slated to open in 2023 will likely will not be finished until April 2025 due to repeated construction delays and a “strained relationship” between the builder-operator, LAX Integrated Express Solutions, or LINXS, and Los Angeles World Airports.
Although the Federal Transit Administration has pledged more than $1 billion to the separate Inglewood Transit Connector, it now expects that project will not be completed in time for the 2028 Olympics as planned, and instead will open in 2030.
Inglewood still needs to secure $1 billion in order to construct the 1.6 mile rail line which will connect passengers from the Metro K-Line to the entertainment venues
Move-ins for Jefferson Inglewood are scheduled to begin in early 2026.
