COMPTON – Authorities Tuesday were seeking suspects in an early morning street takeover and business burglary in Compton.
Deputies were sent to the area of El Segundo Boulevard and Santa Fe Avenue about 3 a.m., according to sheriff’s Lt. Mark Collins.
About 100 people reportedly were involved in the street takeover, and a vehicle was on fire in the area, Collins said.
Also, a number of people apparently involved in the street takeover broke into Ruben’s Bakery & Mexican Food, and left with items from the business, Collins said. No arrests were reported.
According to KTLA5, surveillance footage from outside the bakery showed a white Kia slamming into the entrance twice while in reverse, moments before dozens of people flood inside.
Cameras inside the store then show the suspects ransacking the business, where they allegedly took lottery tickets, cash and merchandise, leaving behind a massive mess and considerable damage.
The business owner told KTLA5 that the crime resulted in tens of thousands of dollars of loss.
Anyone with information on the case was urged to call the sheriff’s station at 310-605-6500.
