AZUSA – A 61-year-old man trying to cross a street in Azusa was struck and killed by a car Friday evening and the driver fled.
The collision was reported at 9:59 p.m. with Azusa Police Department officers responding to Irwindale Avenue and Roosevelt Street where they learned the man was crossing Irwindale Avenue and the driver struck the pedestrian without stopping to help and drove away, according to a department spokesperson.
Paramedics were called to the scene and pronounced the victim dead.
The car suspected of striking the man was a compact car and “sustained major front end damage and possibly a broken windshield,” Bushey said.
