SANTA ANA – A three-vehicle crash in Santa Ana left a person dead and three other people injured, one critically, police said Wednesday.
The collision, involving two SUVs and a sedan, was reported at about 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in the 800 block of South Bristol Street, according to the Santa Ana Police Department.
“Orange County Fire Authority (personnel) … responded to the scene, declaring the passenger in the sedan deceased,” police said in a statement Wednesday.
“The driver of the sedan was transported to a local hospital, where he remains in critical condition,” police said. “Occupants from the two SUVs were also transported to area hospitals and treated for minor injuries.
“Based upon the preliminary investigation, it is believed the sedan was traveling north on Bristol Street, making a left turn onto westbound Tolliver Street, as the two SUVs were traveling south on Bristol Street behind one another,” police said. “As the sedan made the left turn, the first SUV collided with the sedan, causing the second SUV to collide with the lead SUV.”
Both drivers of the SUVs remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators, police said. The cause of the collision remains under investigation.
Anyone with information on the crash was urged to call Corporal D. Carrillo at 714-245-8208, or the Santa Ana Police Department’s Traffic Division at 714-245-8200.
