INGLEWOOD, Calif. – A person has died in a fatal crash across from the Kia Forum and SoFi Stadium Saturday night.
Inglewood Police Officers and Los Angeles County Fire Department responded to the intersection of Prairie/Pincay/Kelso to reports of a violent crash around 5:00 p.m.
According to Inglewood Mayor James Butts a “speeding right light violator” struck a vehicle lawfully in the intersection that had three occupants inside it. One was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Their identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
The violent crash was between a black passenger van and a grey Nissan Versa. It is unknown if the van is part of the I-Ride fleet that ferries special event attendees to venues in the Inglewood Sports and Entertainment District.
An event featuring South Korean girl group Loona was scheduled to start at the Kia Forum at 7:00 p.m.
The crash occurred less than 2 miles from a reported mass shooting in the 3300 block of Manchester Blvd. moments earlier that left two dead and three injured.
The two vehicles were observed being towed to a local tow yard around 9:00 p.m.
Inglewood Police Chief Mark Fronterotta has provided no public comments on the three deaths in the city on Saturday where he is the top law enforcement officer.
Mayor Butts insists on doing the chief’s job and the duties of a Public Information Officer.
Earlier in the day a speeding car crashed into a tree on LaBrea and Hardy blocks from Centinela Hospital.
How are Butts and Fronterotta keeping residents and visitors safe in Inglewood?
